Live music tutor review7/23/2023 ![]() I'm confident that he would be a competent instructor for students of younger ages as well. I considered myself a beginner looking to transition to the intermediate level, and so Jeff was able to accommodate my request to learn more about music theory/chord progressions/etc than just rote memorization of songs. ![]() He is very student-oriented, and will teach you what you want to know. I took a few months of lessons with Jeff, and got exactly what I wanted out of them. This certainly was exciting for our granddaughter! He has even made CDs featuring his students. He enjoys teaching and is patient and kind with his students. We are THRILLED that our granddaughter is learning guitar from a renowned professional guitarist. Thanks Jeff for your 5 star service and for your passionate and considerate attitude and communication towards your clients :) He works efficiently and respectably and has been an amazing help to me! The sophistication and clarity in his work is outstanding and his capability of producing the transcription within only a short time frame was a heaven sent! I would defiantly recommend his transcription service for any one in need and will defiantly be keeping JLA music in mind for any of my future needs. Jeff has greatly helped me through his transcription work on a complex piece on acoustic guitar by Ben Lapps. My wife said Jeff's music was the best part of our celebration! Thanks to Jeff for making our evening so special. But, with less than a week to prepare, he did a stellar performance that had most everyone teary-eyed with happiness. He had never previously performed the two songs that I chose. Jeff played and sang two songs for our 40th wedding anniversary party. Jeff was awesome with the wedding ceremony! He drove over 200 miles just to be at the rehearsal! The music sounded amazing and he was a pleasure to do business with! I would definitely recommend him for any service you may need! I would definitely recommend and use JLA's services in the future. He did a fantastic job and I was extremely impressed with his ability and professionalism. Jeff played a song to commemorate my mother's retirement and it really was the icing on the cake. The style of teaching works very well with individual's needs and goals. I learned more here in a few months than college taught me in 2 years. ![]() Very patient with a rambunctious kindergartener. Jeff teaches my six year old, and she loves it! She's learning so much, and he's great with her. My daughter (12) has been taking guitar lessons from him for over 2 years, and has grown so much as a guitar player in that time. ![]() He is a gifted musician, and an even more gifted teacher. You can tell he truly loves what he does. He is always so enthusiastic, patient and excited. He is patient and really caters to the child's ability and how they learn. I have 2 kids that take guitar and piano lessons from Jeff. He is great at teaching and my children have progressed so much with him! I can't recommend him enough! Jeff has been wonderful with my children. (If you want to review JLA Music click here.) If you are interested in seeing evaluations written by my college students, please click here. ![]() I just don't see P clowning Bobby like that. As far as Bobby, it may have been bobby who told P before hand, that he didn't want to play that long. That's no differnet than him syaing "Damn Mark, you've gotten fat!".If it's all that, don't have him come up there to jam with u then. Why draw attention to Mark in a negative manner. Matt and Bobby, I'm sure are much heavier than they were last time they were in P's band. I also heard that P said that about Mark, obviously refering to Mark putting on weight. U know what banish, P has a tendecy to try to clown folks in a public setting. He forgot his hearing, bobby z ya all,c'mon kirk. But still, at the end of the day, it was always Prince people came to see, not the band. The Revolution was probably as close as it got to Prince being a band, and maybe even the ONA band came close. If there was a weak link, it would not last too long. Prince was always a solo act with a supporting group of hired individual musicians that had to be able to learn Prince's songs and act exactly the way he wanted them to on stage. He didn t need a band (at least in the studio anyway). I do too, but let's not forget, when Prince was 17, he was not a band. I respect bands that have risen to fame together and rode out the hard times together. How can you trust your support structure when you keep replacing them? How can you trust or believe anyone when you fire anyone who disagrees with you? Prince has burned so many bridges in his rise (and fall). IMO he puts showmanship and perfection over friendship. ![]() I'm not sure about this exact instance, but Prince has been known to fine his bandmembers for missing notes. British slang examples7/22/2023 ![]() “What is that? It smells rank,” for example. It could be used for a person, for food, or perhaps most commonly for a very bad smell. It has expanded to just mean bad in general, though, depending on where you are.Īgain, this one is most commonly used in the north of England, though you’ll hear it everywhere in Britain. It can be used in a variety of ways, though again it is most often used in the sense of something disgusting or off-putting. Next, we have “rank”, another common slang term used for bad in Britain. Unfortunately, we just don’t know for sure. ![]() Some, on the other hand, believe it is related to the term “minge”, a slang term for the female genitalia in Britain. Some think it originated in Scotland in the 1970s, derived from the other Scottish slang “ming” which meant bad smelling or unpleasant in general. The origin of this term is not really clear. “They’ve changed the recipe for this, it’s mingin’ now,” for example. In all likelihood, you’re more likely to hear it pronounced “mingin’” with the G dropped, just to avoid any potential confusion. It is certainly much more common among young people today, and generally not a term you’ll hear adults use all that much. This one can be used to describe anything bad, though more often than not it has the sense of something disgusting or unpleasant. “Minging” is another common slang term used in Britain, though primarily in the north of England. In the last few decades, it has developed again to become an adjective, though precisely when this happened is unfortunately not clear to see. It was originally just a noun referring to the act itself, though in the 1950s it expanded to become a noun, too. This is attested from 1948, though again we can presume it predates this by at least a few years. “W*nk” in British slang is a verb meaning to masturbate. “This bar is w*nk, let’s go somewhere else,” for example. It has the sense of something being completely worthless and not worth considering. ![]() It’s again used across generations and isn’t really limited to any one particular group-it started being used in this way decades ago but the younger generations have certainly picked it up, too. It’s certainly profanity, though that doesn’t stop it from also being one of the most common slang terms for bad in Britain. Next we have “w*nk”, another common slang term used in Britain that you also definitely want to be careful with how and where you use it. That is to say that this is little more than a noise that you make when you are disgusted with something-and speak with a Glaswegian accent! It’s thought that it was and still is simply a natural utterance. No doubt in the spoken vernacular, it predates this by at least a few decades. This term is also very old, and is attested in writing by the 1590s at the earliest. “I used to like their music, it’s pish now,” for example. It isn’t limited to any particular age demographic, and you’ll hear this one used by just about everyone in parts of Scotland. ![]() It could be because something is making you impatient, annoying you, or even causing you disgust. It can have some subtly different senses, but one way or another, if something is pish, then it certainly isn’t good. Most commonly you’ll hear it in Glasgow though it is used in Scotland more generally. Next we have “pish”, certainly a more regionally specific one as you won’t hear this one used much outside of Scotland. The idea is that your “sh*t” is literally a separation from your body.īy the 1600s it was the taboo word we know today, and even as late as 1922 it was still drawing censorship from publishers. It ultimately derives from the Old English word scitan, in turn coming from the Proto-Germanic skit meaning “to cut”. This is a very old term, though it has undergone a lot of changes during its lifetime. “That new movie was so sh*t,” for example. Naturally many people are not naturally inclined to swear in their day-to-day lives, but the vast majority are.įurther, “sh*t” can mean many levels of bad, though at the very least it means very bad. It is used across generations and in virtually every corner of the country. Generally speaking, though, this is perhaps the single most common slang term in Britain used to mean bad. Naturally, this is profanity, so you want to be careful with the contexts in which you use it. Fortunately, in a British slang dictionary, there are quite a few informal phrases commonly used as slang. To start off with a simple one, first we have “sh*t”. Before going deeper into your exploration of British slang words, take the time to discover some slang phrases commonly used in the U.K. Nba western conference playoffs schedule7/22/2023 This Sixers team needs to break the ceiling of Conference Semis and at a minimum advance to the Conference Finals for the first time since the Allen Iverson led-team in 2000-01. Try to take a break every 2 to 3 hours for a day trip and every 4 to 6 hours at night to change diapers or soiled clothes, or to feed your baby. It is important for you and your baby to get out of the car every few hours and take a stretch to avoid restlessness. Being right by their side to sing, read, or even massage them, will help avoid tears and make for a smoother journey. It allows you to feed them at their usual times (if bottle feeding), play with them, keep an eye out for issues such as car sickness and know when to stop for a diaper change. This can help your baby stay on a schedule as much as possible. It is always best to have an adult or responsible older child in the backseat with your baby to easily take care of their needs during the trip. And they should not be considered a safe place to sleep for the baby outside of the car. Still, car seats are not ideal for very extended periods when the baby is not being closely watched while sleeping. There are many more of these items to help make your ride much sweeter, and you can find them right here. Furthermore, when I arrive at my visit, museum, or restaurant, do I want to crawl out of the car seemingly disheveled, or do I want to do my hair and makeup in front of this lighted visor mirror? I think you know the answer to that. ![]() And that can be pretty annoying in a car unless you install this simple headrest that cradles your napping noggin. And what about napping? When it’s not my driving shift, I want to sleep. Fortunately, there’s an Echo Auto - so I don’t have to. Now that I’m used to having Amazon Alexa at the ready to turn on lights, play the music I want to hear, or answer every question that pops into my mind, I can’t go on a road trip without her. So, I found Amazon products that make riding in your car comfier and more fun. But every road trip - and every commute, for that matter - involves spending a lot of time in the car. I can be talked into a road trip for just about any of those reasons (and probably a dozen more), because I love the freedom of the open road and a journey that takes me outside the day-to-day. Ready to hit the road? Maybe there’s a beach that’s calling to you, a friend you haven’t seen in a while, a museum with an exhibit you just can’t miss, or a cuisine you can’t get at home.
